Strasbourg

The city of Strasbourg has

about 275000 inhabitants

and the Greater Strasbourg

(Eurométropole) about

half a million. Its historic

city centre, the Grande

Île (Grand Island) was

classified aWorld Heritage

site by UNESCO in 1988.

Strasbourg is located on

the German border, about

500kms East of Paris but

somehow close to it:  the

world’s fastest train will

take you from Paris to

Strasbourg in less than two

hours. Strasbourg is the

seat of several European

institutions, such as the

Council of Europe (with its

European Court of Human

Rights) and the European

Parliament.
